Message from Dean Napolitano
As the inaugural Dean of the University of Mary Washington’s newly expanded College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), I am honored to introduce you to our new college which brings together the Department of Education, the Department of Nursing, and the Department of Athletics, Health and Physical Education. It builds on the strong legacy of the College of Education, and the leadership of outgoing Dean Pete Kelly and the faculty and staff whose commitment to students, teaching, and community partnerships has created an exceptional foundation. Here you will find highlights from this past year showcasing our College’s excellence in teaching, scholarship and community partnerships.
I was drawn to UMW by its strong liberal arts and sciences foundation, dedicated faculty, and deep commitment to serving the community. As the inaugural dean, I’m excited to build bridges across nursing, athletics, and education – areas united by a shared purpose of helping people learn, thrive, and belong. Together, we create opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, collaboration, and meaningful community partnerships that strengthen the ways our students and communities learn and grow.
I invite you to explore these pages and learn more about our students, faculty, and staff and the work we are doing together to shape an innovative, welcoming, and vibrant future for the College.
